"I Want To Leave Public School, But Can't Right Now. What Can I Do?"

So, you’re stuck... Welcome to the club!

State religion in public schools. Violence in public schools. Lack of school choice. Many parents would leave public school if they could. But they feel there is no way out of compulsory education for them. If after you finish reading this page you still feel that your family is neither able nor ready to quit public school just yet, then don’t give up. Visit with us often as we build a support network to help you.

But the fact is that the time is now. The future won’t wait. Children don't stop growing even if you tarry in your decisions.

For your children’s sake, you must do your best to protect them from the worst abuses in this failed system. Here is how to apply your time and energy preparing your move:

  1. Know Your Children: You love them. So identify their individual interests, talents, learning styles, growth areas, and how it all must work together to meet your goals for each of their futures. Remind yourself constantly of these goals and that YOU are in charge of that future — not the State.

The system was supposed to be FOR YOU — not vice versa!

  2. Open Your Children’s Textbooks: Significant time goes into investigating and evaluating what each child is being taught and whether it is the truth. But if you feel that you aren’t knowledgeable in a particular subject, then find a parent or friend who is.
  3. Ponder The Worldviews: Every subject is taught from some worldview perspective. There is no neutrality in education. A worldview even determines what material is selected and what is left out, what is emphasized and what is reached as a conclusion during instruction. Most people are not trained to identify worldviews. And yet it is the most fundamental and crucial information inculcated in your children’s mind. Does it square with your values?

The Problem Of Worldviews

So many parents feel that their core values have come under assault in the public school classrooms. But they can seldom spot the issue in the textbook.

Examples

History: Your family believes America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. But this is not emphasized in your child’s textbook.

Science: Your family believes that evolution is only a theory. But intelligent design can’t be mentioned even as a theory.

Literature: Your family values the noble themes of classical literature. But only ignoble modern books are read.

Social Sciences: Your family adheres to the centrality of the family in society. But alternative lifestyles are taught as the norm for a stable society.

Government: Your family believes in a sovereign, triune God. But public schools teach that the State is "as God walking on earth," by censuring views through political correctness or advancing statist views through global warming, population control, feminism, sexual liberation, moral relativism, socialist economics, globalism, etc. In short, you can’t deny that beneath these various subjects, there is a worldview that the public schools teach to your children. Examine it! Then take action. Either way, your children will bear the consequences of your choice.

What options do you have left?

The ABC's Of Working The System

  1. Speak up! Simply tell teachers that their lessons conflict with your family’s worldview. Then announce that your children’s answers in class and on tests will reflect this diversity in views.
  2. Train your child to explain your family’s worldview intelligently in any class subject based on material that soundly supports it.
  3. Be polite, but confident about your expertise in your worldview. Don’t allow an opposing "expert" to belittle your family’s sincerely-held beliefs.

Insist on applying the school’s Diversity Of Views Policy in the classroom.

  4. If a teacher refuses to accommodate your family’s beliefs, then immediately take the matter to the administrator.
  5. If the administrator will not respect your family’s beliefs, then report this to your friends and together call the media.
  6. Don’t give up! Your children are at stake here—they need you!

Public schools constantly teach "Diversity" and "Inclusiveness". Put their lesson to the test.

Next Steps!

  1. Start a parent group to keep the school staff in check about its diversity and inclusiveness policy.
  2. Equip your children with the same material that successful homeschoolers use.
  3. Incrementally remove your children from corrupting activities in the school social scene.
  4. Contact legal help if your rights are violated.
